GOD DREAMS

"I originally planned to release God Dreams in 2021. If it weren’t for the impromptu sabbatical that brought me to New York for two and a half years, I’m convinced I would have delivered something entirely different. It was Manhattan where I experienced that real shift in aptitude and attitude. A night I recall in particular was when I was recording the third song for my debut, “Channel Zero”. Greenwich Village, New York City, I was working out of Jimi Hendrix’s studio Electric Lady. Now, this is only because Daniel Caesar was kind enough to allow me the remnant studio time after his sessions finishing up “Never Enough”

Out there, time was literally money and I had not a cent. Daniel did a lot for me actually, he bought me Ableton and a u87 to give me the best sound I could to finish the project. Ash, I owe you so much.

God Dreams was the amalgamation of many memories, locations, years, and relationships that shaped the body of my work. I recount a photo that Dylan Sinclair took of me writing my first rendition of the God Dreams track-list onto my whiteboard back when we were roommates in 2021.

Huge shoutout to 646yf4t as well. Also one of my roommates at the time, he touched damn near half of the EP. My favourite memory during it all was when we made “A King”.  This was back when we had no money, so we used to stack coins and try to buy cold shots. We would play pool and talk about shows that we wanted to produce.  A dreamers paradise in all honesty. We also worked a lot on a joint project that I can’t say too much about right now."
